About 75 guests showed up for the Each Moment Matters Luncheon patron party on the evening of Wednesday, October 2, at the home of Kay and Gene Lunceford. But it’s doubtful that any enjoyed themselves more than the Luncefords’ 19-year-old Chihuahua, Annie, who ambled from room to room as the humans sipped, munched on their people food, and chatted. The little dog looked right at home checking out the stilettos and guests like Bill Noble, Patrick Walsh, Sammye and Mike Myers, Michael Riley, Betsy and Frank Guidone, Nell and Jim Carvell, Cathy and Bill Davis, Marc Lonergan-Hertel, Janet and Frank Bracken and Kay’s mom Mary Reynolds.
Since moving into the home designed by Bodron and Fruit four years ago, fifth-generation Texan Kay was amazed how Coy Talley‘s drought-hearty, low-maintenance native grasses had more than flourished. It was so lush, in fact, the driveway was the only hint that—behind all the foliage—there sat a very cool, ultra-contemporary residence.
In addition to the house, an obvious conversation piece, there was plenty to chat about at the party held before the following day’s Each Moment Matters Luncheon at the Hilton Anatole. That event, the guests knew, would be the 10th annual luncheon benefiting Faith Presbyterian Hospice and its Faith Presbyterian Hospice Caring Fund. The fund supports the likes of the organization’s music therapy, pet therapy, benevolent care, and child and family bereavement programs.
Everyone seemed excited about Thursday’s landmark gathering, including Marnie and Kern Wildenthal, who would be receiving the Lifetime Achievement in Philanthropy award. (The couple was just back from a trip to Windsor in Ontario, Canada, where the grandson of Kern’s brother Hobson Wildenthal was getting married.) No less ebullient were Luncheon Co-Chairs Andy Walsh and Thear Suzuki and Honorary Co-Chairs Laura and Tom Leppert. Tom had been the Dallas mayor when the first Each Moment Matters luncheon took place, and Laura was wearing a colorful frock with a butterfly pattern, a nod to the luncheon’s symbol.
