When the Operation Kindness crew announced its plans on Saturday, September 16, to reconfigure a car facility on I-30 into the Lifesaving Partnerships Hub to provide animal services, animal transport and forensics for animal cruelty, there was an especially interesting couple in the crowd. Even if you didn’t know them, you could still tell they were animal lovers.
Well, that couple showed their love today with the announcement that Jan and Trevor Rees-Jones‘ Foundation has “awarded Operation Kindness a $4 million grant to support the organization’s continued efforts in providing veterinary care, kindness and loving homes for dogs and cats.”
In making the announcement, Operation Kindness CEO Ed Jamison said, “Operation Kindness has unprecedented goals for 2024 to bring more of our lifesaving services to dogs and cats in need. The support of our work in the City of Dallas by The Rees-Jones Foundation makes our vision for animal care a reality. We’re very grateful for their recognition of our ability to be agile and responsive to the most urgent needs of Dallas animals.”
When asked the reason for the sizable grant, Foundation President T. Hardie said, “The Rees-Jones Foundation has a priority to ensure that companion animals in our community are well-cared for. The Foundation supports animal welfare groups, like Operation Kindness, that have outstanding leadership and a consistent record of improving outcomes for companion animals. This grant will support them as they continue to establish a comprehensive network of services and partnerships with Dallas Animal Services and others that will improve the welfare of our pets. We are proud to be a part of this effort.”
