There is nothing like a pat on the back. No matter how successful a person may appear to be, they always appreciate an acknowledgment of their efforts, whether professionally or personally.
Thanks to the Dallas Historical Society, there is an opportunity for a show of appreciation. It’s absolutely free and easy to possibly shine a spotlight on an unsung hero in North Texas.
The opportunity is the Dallas History Makers Award Of Excellence that will take place on Thursday, November 20, at the Fairmont Dallas.

But, the presentation is much more than just a “pat on the back” for the recipients. It’s also a time when awardees meet their counterparts in other categories. This past year, one recipient told his wife that he got to be on stage with Rolando Blackman.
Since February was all too brief a month, the deadline for nominations has been extended to Monday, March 31, for the following categories: Arts Leadership, Business, Creative Arts, Education, Health/Science, Humanities/History, Philanthropy, Sports Leadership, Volunteer Community Leadership or Jubilee History Maker.
The nomination form is here.
Suggestion: Before filling out your nomination, check out the list of past recipients to make sure they haven’t already been recognized. The list is here. It’s a remarkable group of people, but it’s also surprising how many deserving individuals haven’t been honored yet.
